中芯月產能與訂單需求
落差7,000片

據道瓊(Dow Jones)報導,儘管全球第三大晶圓代工廠中芯國際(SMIC)甫下修第三季(7~9月;Q3)財測,然而該公司表示,預期2005年營收可望成長逾10%,並且保證中芯表現將會逐季好轉。

 中芯國際執行長張汝京表示,中芯國際近期表現將逐季好轉,Q3將優於Q2,而Q4表現可望再優於Q3,此外,目前市場和中芯訂單表現均相當強勁, 中芯已努力盡速解決目前設備安裝延後的問題。

 張汝京指出,設備未能及時上線,主要是受到免稅進口等公文作業延後所累,新設備將在Q4正式加入生產行列。他並表示,由於目前中芯月產能與訂單需求落差7,000片,預期Q4產能不足的情況可望舒緩。另外,中芯國際預期將在天津和上海8吋開始生產邏輯晶片,但未給予時間表,並且再次重申2005年底12吋廠將導入90奈米製程。

 事實上,中芯近期股價跌跌不休,並受到日前公佈調降Q3財測消息所累,更使得股價降至新低點。由於設備安裝前置期較長,以及產品平均售價(ASP)揚升幅度恐較原先預期為少,使得毛利率亦由原先預估的12~15%,調降至7~9%,出貨量季增率亦下修至6~7%。

 中芯9月23日香港股市股價應聲下滑至2004年上市以來最低點,僅達1.45港元,之後3天股價又再度下探,9月27日僅為1.21港元,所幸近2日略微回升,29日以1.3港元作收。因此,張汝京在此時出面發表樂觀預期,外界解讀為信心喊話的層面居多,是否真能帶動股價有所起色,持續觀察。


年年加蓋晶圓廠 三星
行不行?

日前美國各州才為了爭取三星電子(Samsung Electronics)青睞,設立該公司在美國第二座晶圓廠,搶成一團,包括亞利桑納州、德州、加州、奧勒岡州、紐約州等,均祭出優惠措施獎勵投資辦法,希望贏得三星眷顧;才沒多久時間,三星就在9月底宣佈斥資330億美元,將在未來7年內在南韓「華城-器興」(Hwaseong-Giheung)地區,共計興建8座晶圓廠,這樣的大手筆恐怕要讓美國各州嫉妒死了。

 三星此番聲言將挑戰2012年半導體事業營收上攀610億美元規模,不僅較2004年半導體營收175億美元,成長近2.5倍,若試與半導體龍頭英特爾(Intel)相較,依照英特爾2004年營收340億美元規模估計,除非英特爾未來幾年的年營收成長幅度至少達10%水準,估計到2012年才能達到728億美元營收規模,屆時方能依舊傲視三星。

 雖然我們仍無法預估誰輸誰贏,不過,從三星大手筆投資雄心來看,不甘區居英特爾之下、老在別人屋簷下低頭第二名心態,相當明顯。

 此外,三星耕耘「華城-器興」地區為全球最大規模半導體製造聚落的用意至為明顯,就像三星在TFT LCD面板事業方面,深耕忠清南道湯井園區,連續擴產下一代面板廠類似。

 相對地,英特爾在全球的晶圓廠建置方面,美國國內最大基地奧勒岡州有12吋廠D1C、D1D加上8吋廠Fab 20,而海外最大基地愛爾蘭園區,則包括12吋廠Fab 24、Fab 24-2加上8吋廠Fab 10與Fab 14等;在英特爾採取分散全球各區域市場,就近供貨的同時,三星電子則將南韓國內基地打造成全球最大規模半導體製造聚落。

 若就產品組合來看,儘管近來三星為了供應足夠的NAND型快閃記憶體(Flash)給大戶蘋果電腦(Apple),業已卯足全力擴產Flash產能,不過,三星此番大規模擴產動作,應該不只為記憶體事業一樁。為了分擔風險,三星把Flash當作DRAM事業獲利不佳的緩衝,儘管三星現階段依然雄踞全球Flash龍頭,但記憶體市場變幻莫測,當其他後進者競相投入之後,三星自然會尋找其他利基市場。

 晶圓代工市場的成長率,平均高於整體半導體市場增幅,三星的製造產能與製程優勢,應可拿到晶圓代工市場的敲門磚,不成問題,至於遲遲未見三星出招,恐怕是在進行秘密沙盤推演,不過,黃昌圭終於在日前明確表示,晶圓代工事業的最終計畫將在2006年上半定調,在三星大規模投資下,恐怕不應小覷三星未來的殺傷力。


三星打造全球最大半導
體製造聚落!

全球半導體產業即將隨著新晶圓廠如雨後春筍般湧現,而邁向另一全新里程碑!繼2005年上半全球有逾20座新晶圓廠展開裝機作業,以及2005年全年新增16座12吋晶圓廠、推升全球12吋廠總數累計達46座後,南韓半導體大廠三星電子(Samsung Electronics)更趁勢加碼,打算在2012年前的7年間斥資330億美元,於南韓再蓋8座晶圓廠,且其中4座將投產12吋晶圓或更大尺寸晶圓,打造全球最大半導體製造聚落。因此,可預見未來幾年內全球規模龐大的晶圓廠,將足以撼動全球景氣榮枯。

 半導體市調機構Strategic Marketing Associates(SMA)日前甫提出警告指出,2005年全球新晶圓廠陸續展開裝機作業,像是超微(AMD)德勒斯登12吋廠Fab 36、中芯北京12吋廠Fab 4、特許(Chartered)最新12吋廠Fab 7等,隨著這些新晶圓廠陸續進入量產階段,恐將造成2006年全球半導體產能再度陷入過剩危機。

 值得注意的是,半導體業者大步跨向12吋廠的速度更是驚人,市調機構iSuppli日前便指出,2005年全球12吋廠總數將增加50%,達到46座之多,其中,新晶圓代工廠的增幅更是遠超過IDM或CPU新晶圓廠的增幅,預估到2005年底,12吋晶圓代工廠所佔比重將增至43%,凸顯出晶圓代工廠在全球半導體產業的重要性,以及全球業者看好晶圓代工成長力道而前仆後繼投入該領域。

 不過,全球蓋新晶圓廠風潮仍方興未艾,三星便公開指出,打算在2012年前共斥資330億美元,在南韓加蓋8座晶圓廠,其中有4座將導入12吋晶圓或更大尺寸晶圓投產,屆時南韓「華城-器興」(Hwaseong-Giheung)地區將成為全球最大規模半導體製造聚落,共計有24條生產線,並藉此達到三星半導體事業預定在2010年營收達610億美元的目標,遠超過2004年營收175億美元達3倍多。

 三星此番高達330億美元投資案,可說是自1974年進軍半導體產業以來,投資規模最大的一次,2004年底三星剛慶祝半導體事業屆滿30週年慶。而據道瓊(Dow Jones)報導,三星該項投資案係計劃在華城興建1座半導體研發中心及8座晶圓廠,該座研發中心預定在2006年5月開始運作,至於新增8條生產線計畫,其中1條Line 15現正在興建當中,預定2006年上半啟用。此外,目前三星在華城已擁有5條生產線,以及1條研發專用生產線。

 至於三星在器興主要半導體晶圓廠係興建於1983年,據彭博資訊(Bloomberg)報導,該廠區先後歷經擴產成為目前擁有15條生產線,其後又在2000年在漢城南方50公里處的華城擴建晶圓廠,估計在330億美元投資案加持下,到2012年「華城-器興」地區將成為全球最大規模半導體製造聚落。

 事實上,目前三星從器興園區(12.9平方公里)向南20公里到華城園區(14.4平方公里),「華城-器興」園區一氣呵成,總面積達27.3平方公里,全球最大的半導體生產園區就此成形!

 此外,儘管三星半導體事業總裁暨執行長黃昌圭(Chang-Gyu Hwang)證實,三星正提供4GB NAND型快閃記憶體(Flash)給蘋果電腦(Apple),作為生產iPod nano之用,不過,三星計劃大手筆擴產,並非只是為因應蘋果所需,黃昌圭表示,除擴充現有產能外,三星亦考慮進軍晶圓代工市場,至於切入方案將在2006年上半定調。

 令業界矚目的是,三星此次對於進軍晶圓代工市場,有更明確的表態,不僅反映出三星身處價格割喉戰的記憶體市場上,亟思產品組合多元化策略,更透露出在DRAM及快閃記憶體市場具價格影響力的三星,未來亦有可能在晶圓代工市場嶄露頭角,並逐漸影響全球晶圓代工產業競局。

 另據路透(Reuters)報導指出,半導體營運仍是挹注三星營收的大宗,2005年第二季(4~6月;Q2)三星半導體部門營業利益為1.1兆韓元,佔三星Q2整體營業利益1.65兆韓元約66%。
