美國昨天斷然拒絕了伊朗要求,要公開和美國辯論核子政 策的提議,美國說,伊朗這種要求,只是企圖轉移視聽, 模糊焦點。 伊朗總統「艾瑪丹加」昨天公開表示,他願意和美國總統 布希,在電視上公開辯論與討論全球事務,希望雙方可以 面對面解決問題。 一名白宮高層官員私下表示,伊朗想要公開辯論,只是企 圖轉移國際社會對伊朗支持恐怖主義與發展核武的焦點。


萊斯:提早自伊拉克撤
軍代價無法估計

美國國務卿萊斯今天警告,她反對美軍提早從伊拉克撤出,她表示,提早撤軍會鼓勵極端主義份子,造成「無法估計」的代價。

萊斯出席在鹽湖城舉行的美國退伍軍人協會年會,她告訴與會老兵,如果美國在成功完成任務前將部隊撤出伊拉克,「失敗的代價將極為嚴重」。

她指出:「如果我們在伊拉克政府足以確保國家安全之前就放棄伊拉克人民,我們等於是在告訴這個區域有心從事改革的人,美國不信守承諾,是不能信任的」。

美國民眾以及反對黨政治人物要求美國政府擬定自伊拉克撤軍計畫的壓力日增。

但萊斯表示,在不成熟的狀況下撤軍會「使極端主義份子和溫和派、民主改革派的敵人壯膽」。

她說,這種結果會使伊拉克成為像一九九0年代阿富汗成為蓋達恐怖組織的溫床、九一一事件攻擊美國的「發射架」一樣的「失效國家」。


倫斯斐稱反美出兵伊拉
克者是「姑息主義」

美國國防部長倫斯斐昨天高調反駁那些批評美國出兵伊拉克,以及反對美國進行反恐戰爭的反戰人士,是「姑息主義」,他並且要那些反戰人士想想,一九三○年代,正是因為西方國家對納粹德國採取姑息主義態度,所以才帶來日後的二次世界大戰。 倫斯斐在向美國「退伍軍人協會」演講時表示,隨著致命性武器越來越容易取得,數量越來越多,美國還能姑息那些非常具有威脅性的極端份子嗎? 路透社報導說,由於越來越多美國民眾,開始質疑布希政府的反恐政策與出兵伊拉克行為,對布希政府的支持率也低迷不振,可能正是因為如此,所以主戰派的倫斯斐,才會高調批判反戰的聲音。
